“You did this on purpose, didn’t you?” Dougie declared, looking up from the sheaf of papers I’d given him a few months ago, detailing our holiday itinerary for Sweden.
“Did what on purpose?”
“The third and fourth hotels you’ve picked”
“Remind me,” I smirked, but I knew what was coming.
“Albert Kok hotel in Trollhättan?”
“Ah yes, but it means kitchen in Swedish. I have it on good authority that Albert’s kok is highly recommended. It’s a show kok: you can see it from the lobby. People come from miles around to sample Albert’s kok”
“Do they really?”
“Indeed they do.”
“What about this next one, in Ängelholm?”
“Ah yes, that’s my favourite”
“I can see why. The Klitterhus!”
“Lovely spot, the Klitterhus. Difficult to find but certainly worth the effort.”
“Does it have a translation?”
” ‘Hus’ is a house and ‘klitter’ is a dune. So it’s the house on the dunes.”
“So we’ve got to get from Albert’s kok to the klitterhus?”
“Yes, but I’ll navigate. You’ll struggle on your own and I know what you men are like, you won’t ask for directions.”

We found the Klitterhus! |
We can always rely on you to give us just this sort of info on places to stay! you have to smile don't you……..
There's much joy to be had from finding gems like these. You can't have so much fun with normal hotel brands. It's childish, I know, but it kept us laughing the whole fortnight.
So you did manage to guide Dougie from Albert's Kok to the Klitterhus… well done you!
At one point I thought maybe I should just take over and do it myself, but we persevered! ;-))
*chucks head back and laughs like a horse….*
Brilliant! So much better than a Travelodge 🙂
Indeed, no scope for silly double-entendres there.
You should have let Dougie have a go at finding the Klitterhus on his own….first time for everything 😉
I could have…but we didn't have all day 😉
Oooh, you are awful!
I know. What would the nuns say, Toni?!
I'm sure the nuns wouldn't say kok or klitterhus even if it was on the tip of their tongues.
Haha! That may well be my favourite comment from you,Troy. But you do realise you'll go to hell for it?
The Kilitterhus looks impressively large. Was it receptive?
It had free WiFi?!
I hate to say this, but I think I've dined in the Klitterhus.
About 25 years ago, and the experience just seems to get larger in my imagination the more I stroke it.
Good prawn salad and open sandwiches.
Not too sure about the salad cream. Tasted a bit fishy.
OMG! What have I started?! I write a little tongue-in-cheek post (!) and look what happens. The rudery of you chaps knows no bounds ;-))
Fabulous! Did you find out the word for art while you were there? It's quite similar to the Danish and the German word incidentally, but at first I thought someone was being terribly rude about an artist…
Ah yes, we had fun with that word when we were in Copenhagen too. I imagine hearing somebody say it, rather than me just reading it, would stop you in your tracks!
LOL!!!! I actually burst out laughing reading your post.
Have enjoyed all of your Swedish posts very much, sorry for my lack of commenting, busy time before the holiday and then was away myself for two weeks, just got back at the weekend. xx
So pleased to have entertained you. You don't need to apologise – I think we are all on a blogging/commenting go slow during the holidays. Hope you had a good break. Will pop over to find out very soon!
HAHAHA I bet you chose them on purpose so Douggie could get all embarrassed. 🙂
On purpose? Me? I couldn't possibly say…. 😉
