Louis, can I be in your Over 28s?

Trish Burgess Posted on04/10/201007/04/2016 Musical Theatre/Am dram/Entertainment 21 Comments

Okay, brace yourselves. Here’s me, at the charity concert in Broad Street Methodist Church in Spalding on Saturday. “Broadway to Broad Street” had songs from the shows including Les Miserables, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (in a church!), Oklahoma, Wicked, Me and My Girl and Jesus Christ Superstar.

My friend Suzanne was in the front row with her phone and managed to get some video of me doing my bit. The first verse of my song is missing but the rest is there and it’s not too bad. Could have done with bringing the microphone closer on the quiet bits (light and shade, darling…light and shade) but the previous singer on the pulpit had some whistling feedback so I was a bit wary. (Stop making excuses woman, let people just watch it!)

Well done… and sexy dress too….and Louie would be lucky to get you…..but of course I'm really thinking about not going back to choir now….too challenging!!

Well done! It takes balls to stand up and sing with a mic. *impressed*!

Libby – you must keep going with your choir: you won't have to go it alone!

Sarah – I kept forgetting to put the mic to my mouth: I'm so used to having a head mic and wafting my arms around. I get very nervous though, so I'm glad it's over.

Very natural – you're very good with your arms and holding microphone simultaneoulsy. Some people can't do that at all. Did your friend doing the filming rummage in her bag though in the first few minutes?

Eleanor just said ' do it again, Mummy – clappy hands.' I think it's a hit with her.

    Deer Baby – Eleanor's a fan…yeah!

I think my friend wanted to focus on a particularly impressive bit of the pulpit! I'm just pleased she got anything – never had any of my performances filmed before. Very weird and I keep wishing I'd done bits differently.

Steve – What a lovely thing to say. Thank you. I'm very self-conscious watching it back but I think I did fine.

FK, Kelloggsville and skinner675 – thank you ladies. The dress is a very dark green velvet, really nice and stretchy to wear too!

Wow that's brilliant! I do hope you shot the cougher a dirty look though…

Are you the wild card twist we've been hearing about in X-factor?

Very Bored – let's just say, Mr Walsh and I have been having words. If Mary's not up to it, I can pretend I work in Tesco and give it a shot.

WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO! I'm SO glad you told me about this – I had missed it (shameful, I know) and would've been so disappointed not to have seen it. Very, very impressive.

    I think I have an idea….

Trish – multi talented! Writer and performer no less – it took so much courage to do that and you sang brilliantly! Respect.

Yay you! I get shussshhhed quite violently by my offspring when I sing along to the car CD. I respond by warbling louder until they start banging their heads against the dashboard and grabbing the steering wheel. But I should still be in Louis' top 3 too! I know I should!

OK I'll leave it to you then. Love the voice. Love the dress.

Diney – Thank you. It does take courage – I only enjoy it after it's finished!

madame SG – a duet maybe? I get shushhhed from my family too. Am only allowed to sing when they are out.

Sally – well if it brought Peter out of the bathroom I must have created quite a sound! You may have missed the real performance but you have this lovely wobbly video to watch whenever you like!
