Mum’s NOT Gone to Newcastle

How festive is this? I trudged out in my wellies this morning to provide you with this offering.
This was the morning we were due to drive up to Newcastle to see my parents for a couple of days. This is now scuppered due to heavy snow here in South Lincolnshire and icy weather guaranteed all the way up the A1. We now plan to do the trip on Boxing Day: having entertained the inlaws with turkey and arthritic charades on Christmas Day itself, a four hour drive will be a welcome relief.
I had been looking forward to getting my regular fix of Geordie-ness. And now I haven’t got Cheryl Cole and little Geordie Joe to remind me of my heritage every Saturday night, I am at a loss! I have been annoying husband and son with my uncanny impersonation of Wor Cheryl since about October. If Hubby brings me a cup of tea of an evening, I like to congratulate him: “Eeh, luv, ah just think that was amayzin. Yer just reeelly made that yor own…am sooo proud of yer!” It’s starting to grate on him now, so I’m thinking of going the whole hog with hair extensions, teetering heels and attaching some saucepan lids to the bosom area of my LBD.
For your delight, here’s a couple of snowy scenes, which I took from the warmth of the living room and bedroom so I could keep my slippers on. Enjoy!

Shame you had to postpone it. I am v fond of Newcastle, even though I am a Southern nancy (I went to university there). It was subject to freak weather, though, I seem to remember – one day, no one turned up for a lecture (apart from me, the swot) because it was 'too windy'. Have a lovely Xmas x

Probably the right move. My mum lives about five minutes from the A1 and had to turn back the other day because of the traffic. Long queues due to buses going about 2 miles an hour on the ice and probably thinking "Eeeeeeh bliddy hell".

NWBI – Now I know why we've forged a blogging bond! A Southern nancy you may be, but a part of you will always be in The Toon!

Expat Mum – "eeeeeh bliddy hell". That just sounds like my mum – are you sure we aren't related?

Liz – that's just what my husband said! Will have to remember to print it out as cards for next year.

If I wear my pan-lids, Craig, and you bring a couple of drumsticks, we could give that dodgy DJ a run for his money!
