Column catch-up

Trish Burgess Posted on04/08/201409/08/2016 Trish Takes Five 6 Comments

I did wonder with my column whether I should take some time off for the holidays so they could just put ‘Trish Burgess is away’ like they do in the national newspapers. Then I thought, no, I don’t want to let some other bugger steal my spot. So I made sure I wrote my columns well in advance and managed to keep up.

If you fancy a read, here’s what they looked like in the paper, and the links are there too.

Enjoyed reading you columns, we've struggled with languages too. We lived in Germany off an on for 10 years so I'm ok in Deutsch, if I'm directing the conversation and I'm fairly proficient in Spanish, no French what so ever and they are the least forgiving people when you can't speak their language. In Italy I use Spanish and everyone thinks I'm speaking poor, but understandable, Italian.
Singing along, well, Camelot has been my favorite play for years, I know the score by heart and finally got the chance to see the live play a couple of years ago in Chicago with Michael York playing King Arthur. I was singing along happily till my husband told me to sing inside my head. Lol.
    Really enjoy your columns.

Thanks so much for saying this. That's put a big smile on my face.
Have to laugh at your singing along to Camelot. Oops!

Very enjoyable, Trish. I loved hearing about your early start on the boards and that concert sounds a great laugh.

I haven't been able to watch the Commonwealth Games but had my mum describing the opening ceremony as it happened. She hadn't a clue what was going on so it came over as pretty funny. Glad you've enjoyed watching it all.

The ceremony was a hoot – so stuffed full of random Scottish things. Better than the closing one which just seemed to be a Kylie concert.

I do enjoy your columns Trish, we've caught quite a few events at the games and thoroughly enjoyed the scenes from Glasgow. (on TV not in person sadly)
Only once have I tried to get by with my schoolgirl French; and I wouldn't attempt it again!

The games were great – we just watched on TV too, as we always do. really must make the effort to attend sometime. We didn't make it to the Olympics either.
