Mum’s Gone to be a World Cup Widow

Trish Burgess Posted on13/06/201007/04/2016 Lucky Dip 17 Comments

So how many more weeks have I got to endure this lovely vision in my front room?

Telly, feet up, crisps.

Not any old crisps mind – Walkers special World Cup crisps. Here we have Rory indulging in Brazilian Salsa and Scottish husband Dougie unwittingly munching on English Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding.

Might as well join them I suppose. Budge up boys, mine’s a South African Sweet Chutney.

All you need now is some humming bees in the background. At least yours are at home – mine's gone off for the entire weekend to watch it non-stop elsewhere. I promised on my blog I wouldn't grumble….

My crisps are cheese and bacon. Boring!

@Deer Baby – feel free to grumble here!
The buzzing is driving me to distraction too.

    Mine's a totally unsports-related Cadbury's Dairy Milk… and that's the way it's staying. What World Cup?

@Steve – oh yes, I read your post earlier today. I was going to comment but you seemed in Grinch-mode so I thought better of it!
The Grand Prix is on at the moment – does that take your fancy?

Chesse and onion for me please

@The Mad House – cheese and onion?? That's hopeless, woman! There's always Japanese Teriyaki Chicken or the worrying Australian BBQ kangaroo?

Crisps? used to love 'em….now I know they are the work of the devil……have moved on to chocolate covered brazil nuts instead.

We watched the US and UK match (pah) but that's about it, until England play again. Might just eat some crisps anyway though.

I fear a great expansion in waistlines! There is a lot of it about! Roll on Wimbeldon!

Phew, so glad my blokes don't do this…although it is safer than sailing! Good luck with it, see you on the other side!

@Libby – chocolate brazils? How very civilised!

@Expat Mum – living with a Scot, I think a draw was a good outcome!

@jfb57 – Thankfully son is as thin as a rake and husband not too bad either (bad photo) – plus he's off playing basketball tonight to offset yesterday's munchies!

@christine – ah but we're all watching together so it's great fun really. A bit of a Sunday slob session is vital for hubby as he's exhausted in the week. I find the best way to cope with the football is to try and join in! Pass the vuvuzela!

Usually I'm a PS3 (playstation) widow and a football widow – OH plays and watches. And yes, I am now a World Cup Widow. My OH says he wants to watch all the big matches – as far as I can tell, that will be every match that on whilst he's at home. Luckily I do like watching England play.
    OH JOY!

One of our friends has told his wife he is off child-duty during any England match. Just try it darling husband!

@21stcenturymummy – thankfully as my son sits with him when he watches the footy, he can combine child-duty with sitting on backside. Mind you, there isn't much to do for a 14 year old boy!
I've found, actually, that the matches have brought us all together as son isn't locked away in his room on facebook!

Luckily we are not a World Cup football house yet; unluckily he does like cricket….and that's on every year!!!!

Pop over to my place. In Bahrain, the World Cup is only being shown on one satellite channel…and we don't subscribe. YIPPEE!!
