Nothing to see here…

….but plenty to see over on my other blog, Memoirs of John Michael Grinsell.

I’ve been busy typing up Dad’s memoirs and so far we’ve covered his early childhood in Ely, Cambridgeshire during the Second World War. I can now picture this lovely little boy with his blond curly hair, pretending to be a soldier filling up his tricycle with imaginary petrol from the garage next door and listening to the Spitfires and Lancaster bombers flying overhead from the nearby RAF bases.

Writing up his memoirs in the form of a blog is proving to be such a good idea. As always, I wish I’d started it sooner as Dad would have so enjoyed reading daily posts on the computer. Nevertheless, the family are gaining an insight into his life and Mum, in particular, is finding it such a comfort to read all about the man she loved whom she misses so much.

I'm enjoying reading them very much. Your dad was born about the same time as my mum which makes it even more interesting.

@Sarah – And I'm loving reading your mum's diaries from the camping trips. I imagine you're enjoying typing those up too. It makes me realise how quickly time goes by; I'm pleased I have my own blog too so there will be something for future generations to read.

Yes I have quite a chuckle as I'm doing it, especially the bits where us kids got to try the booze. And on the numerous occasions we were tent-alone kids when my parents took off after putting us (outrageously early) to bed so they could bugger off and have some fun. 🙂

I've subscribed to your Dad's memoirs and love reading his firsthand memories. Looking forward to more!

@Sarah – I know just what you mean. Here's me whittling on a recent post about interconnecting rooms yet very often my brother and I would be in a hotel room on a different floor to my parents and they would use the phone-babysitting service.
My husband used to camp a lot with his family; he tells me the adults always put the kids to bed then buggered off too!

@Ms Caroline – Thank you! Will keep at it!
