Digitally re:masterpieces – The Bedroom

Something brilliant has begun over at  Is there a Plan B? which I thought was so good, I had to join in.

It all started with a Gallery entry for the theme ‘Still Life’ where Plan B recreated an old master with some modern touches. Her first two re:masterpieces are excellent and I urge you to look at them before you have a peek at mine. She has set up a link so others can add their own works of art.

I decided for my own effort to work on a photo my son took when we visited the Musee d’Orsay in Paris a couple of years ago.

Bedroom in Arles – Vincent van Gogh – 1888

So, ta-da, my recreation of this masterpiece shows my son Rory’s bedroom, tidied rearranged to mirror van Gogh’s room. The angle isn’t quite right as the room isn’t long enough: I didn’t think knocking a wall down for a photo opportunity was appropriate.

Bedroom in Holbeach – Trish Burgess – 2010

I did contemplate having a crack at the painting below (Gabrielle d’EstrĂ©es et une de ses soeurs – unknown artist) which we saw when we visited The Louvre, but I wasn’t quite drunk enough. Now if someone else wants to try….

I'd love to recreate the sistine chapel… but I'm not sure I can summon that many friends (plus someone to hold the camera steady)!

@Steve – I suppose if you lay everyone on the floor you could use a ladder and look down on them all?

Genius! Might have to have a crack at that one myself in due course!

And of course I know the tweaked nipple – just wasn't thinking! How friendly are you with your sister???

@planb – it's such a great concept. Are you on Twitter? That would be a good way to pass the word around.

I haven't got a sister, unfortunately. My husband offered to help last night but I'm not sure how to use the timer on the camera…

@christine – I knew it would catch on! I was thinking about it all night, wondering if I could recreate Monet's garden with a few wind-battered rose bushes. The potential for this new game is HUGE!

I can't draw, paint or sculture for chocolate oranges. But the bedroom looks much too tidy!

@CJ – He's quite a tidy boy, though he spends all his time lying on the sofa in another room on Facebook so he doesn't have the time to mess it up!

Sadly my bosoms are nowhere near pert enough to react that painting but I hope you find someone. đŸ˜‰

@VB – I suppose droopy ones would work just as well, but can you keep your face straight?

I think Libby ought to be informed that such things only happen on Radio Five Live… I'd hate her to be disappointed.

I think I'll go for a Jackson Pollock – you know, the chap who threw paint all over giant canvasses. I won't have to move anything around in my house!

@dotterel – see comment above to Libby!

@Expat Mum – oh yes, that would be fab. Get the kids to ride through it on their bikes too.

Fantastic! Love it. The bedroom is spot on. Will have to put my thinking cap on. Madame Smokin Gun has already mentioned Tracy Emin – that's what my bed looks like. Or I'm having a picnic in Richmond Park in London this weekend – could recreate Manet's Le Dejeuner sur L'Herbe. Great stuff.

Sadly not on twitter. Or I am, but don't actually use it because I suspect my relationship might not survive! But thank you so much for passing the word around. Going to do another post now with the linky info etc!
