The Gallery – Motherhood – Rory

Trish Burgess Posted on15/06/201007/04/2016 The gallery 27 Comments
This little baby is now 14 years old and probably has no idea how much he was wanted and how much he is loved.
We always planned to have children but didn’t think it would take so long for a baby to come along. Tests, tablets, heartache, frustration. Four years later this little tuppence arrived and has always been everything we had hoped for. He has turned into a kind, caring, funny and intelligent young man
Many photos of my boy show him with his dad, as it’s usually me behind the camera. But this shot shows him over my shoulder, chin resting on a muslin cloth, looking at his dad. My fingers are gently wrapped around him, keeping him safe.
Rory hasn’t any siblings but he is our life, he makes us whole.
This is my entry for Tara Cain’s Gallery, the theme for this week being ‘Motherhood’.

    Sometimes they are so hard to come by, 10 years before Maxi finally came along!

    @kelloggsville and @diney – thank you. He's a poppet.

    @TheMadHouse – there's nothing worse than 'trying for a baby' is there? But all worthwhile in the end.

    Thanks for all your lovely comments.

    @Becky – there's a photo of him on my post about being a World Cup Widow. He probably can't be described as cute now – tall, gangly, hair too long! But he will always be gorgeous to me!

    Such a beautiful photo. Such a frustration when you want something so badly and can't have it. So glad you got your happy ending and your lovely son.

    How precious – it can be a difficult and long journey to Motherhood – 2 m/cs and my stillborn baby boy, lots of sadness frustration and waiting on tenderhooks before my 2 bundles of joy came along!

    Beautiful photo!

    Thank you for all your comments. Interesting to hear how many other mums have struggled to get their little bundles of joy.
    @Vicky – gosh you did have an uphill battle. So glad it ended well.
    @Libby – another long wait! It seems like eternity at the time.
    @Kidstravel2 – it never goes away, I want to protect him all the time and it's hard when you have to let them make choices and be more independent.
