The Gallery – PINK – sunset over Lake Garda

Trish Burgess Posted on17/03/201028/12/2016 The gallery 33 Comments

This is my favourite photo from our holiday in Lake Garda last summer. I haven’t changed it in any way; this is exactly the same as through my own eyes. I haven’t got a fancy camera and usually have no idea about composition but somehow this looks right to me. (If you click on the photo you can see it much bigger and get a better idea of the scene)

Lake Garda is a phallic-shaped body of water in the North of Italy. I was told it resembles a witch’s hat but that wasn’t what came to mind when I looked at it on a map. We stayed in a town called Bardolino, in the testicular region! They do a fabulous cheap, extremely drinkable red wine that I’ve since found in Tesco and Sainsbury’s. Highly recommended!

This is my contribution to the “colour” theme at The Gallery which can be found at Tara’s Sticky Fingers website.

Fabulous photo Trish… and go on, give us the name of that wine. Or is it simply called Bardolino?

    Oooh, that's just beautiful.
If I click my heels three times, will I end up there with a pink drink with an umberella in it?

Lake Garda is gorgeous. We've been camping around there, and it was lovely.

If you go again – see if you can stop by in Verona during the summer and go and see their opera in their ampitheatre there. One of the top 10 travel experiences of my life, and I'm not even that big a fan of opera!)

    Thanks everyone for popping over!

Brit – last year I kept moaning that I wanted to go to the Opera in Verona but I couldn't persuade the family (particularly as I'd dragged them to a French version of Les Miserables when we went to Quebec). Now you've got me fired up again: will definitely go back.

Amazing picture, it's so nice when a picture just captures exactly what you see, isn't it? Fab.

I lived 30 mins from Lake Garda for 18 years and know it well and i'm off there this year in June and cannot wait. I'm staying close to Peschiera in the balls region too 🙂 Hope you managed to get to the Speck Stube in Bardolino.
Witches hat? No way, definitely phallic

You should get a job writing for the Bardolino region's tourist/wine industries – I'm sure you could get plenty of adjectives on the back of the bottle's label – '…a lovely drop of nectar from the testicular region. I'm getting……….'

Some lovely comments here – thank you!

@marisworld – 18 years of living near Lake Garda sounds bliss. No I didn't get to the Speck Stube. Is it a bar or restaurant? Another reason to go back again.

@goonerjamie – Bardolino!Currently around £4 a bottle – not too mcuh tannin so less of a headache after!

@madamesmokingun – will get in touch with them now, splendid idea!

Beautiful pink, Beautiful photograph. The perspective is just right. Always wanted to go to Lake Garda. Is that near where George Clooney lives? Or he's Como isn't he? Whatever, I'd like to go. Sigh.

Do you know where I'm going for my 'summer' holidays this year, Trish? Huh? Belfast. For two weeks, in August. I am going to cut out this gorgeous picture and tape it to the inside of my sunglasses.
