We’ve just got back from a fabulous three day break to Oslo. I have so much to tell you about our stay in this beautiful city but need to get my thoughts and photos together first.
In years gone by, we used to watch the Test Card on the TV while waiting for programmes to start. Here’s my version: instead of the girl with the blackboard and the creepy clown, I’m sharing my latest column offerings if you fancy a gander.
First world problems here, sparked off by a noisy new kettle.

Giving readers an idea of what blogging is all about.
Ah I wish I'd been able to go to Britmums this year – it would have been good to meet up! The Ball sounds like great fun and I couldn't agree more about the beeping – drives me mad too!
We must meet up sometime – in the meantime, we'll keep sharing a good blogging friendship.
Thanks again for giving me a mention! BML this year was fabulous, I truly enjoyed being on the panel with you and Steve and Simon! So glad you liked Oslo too! 🙂
It was a great session – well, we thought so – felt very relaxed with the two experts.
Loved Oslo x
So funny about the beeping bits and bobs – and your kitchen gets to be the start of the show this week – as well it should!!! I thought our oven was broken for six months and didn't use it. Then comandeered the 16 year old and it wasn't broken, it was just showing celsius rather than Fahrenheit, easily fixed (by the 16 year old…)
The photo is a generic kitchen, not mine, though it looks rather nice and shiny doesn't it!
Thank heavens for teenagers, they are good with stuff like that.
I so agree about bleeping appliances. My washing machine drives me nuts. Impossible to stop the bleeping at the end of the cycle. As I do my washing during the night when electricity is cheaper, I have to ensure there are at least 2 closed doors between it and me or it wakes me up before dawn!
I used to do that but the spin cycle kept waking me up and there are no doors to shut apart from my bedroom one!
Trish you are so right about appliances. Why do makers insist on creating noise pollution. I know when my kettle has boiled: it goes "click" and I no longer hear the sound of roiling water!
Exactly, that's how it should be – simple.
Can't wait to hear about Oslo…and I sense you may end up with a 'proper travel job' at some point!
Ooh that would be good x
I love the columns you write, the kitchen bleeping drives me mad too! We have a washing machine that bleeps when it's finished, and I usually have it on overnight, under our bedroom!! The microwave bleeps when it's finished too, and it doesn't stop until you open the door, one bleep would do.
I agree, if it has to bleep, so be it, but it doesn't need to keep going on and on.
Very much enjoyed reading your articles. I guess I should consider myself lucky, the only beeps I have to put up with are the dishwasher, the washing machine and the dryer!! xx
That's three too many… Xx
